On July 29th, a few brave sailors decided to test their mettle against the mighty Brandywine River. Despite reports of flash floods and impending doom, six seaworthy sailors, some hailing from as far as State College and North Jersey, set off on a Saturday morning, searching for surprises and more alliterative uses of the letter “S”. At the end of the voyage, they retired to the Four Dogs Tavern for food and refreshment.
STC-PMC River Trip on the Brandywine
Come celebrate summer with the STC-Philadelphia Metro Chapter as we take an easy cruise down the Brandywine River this July! Meet everyone at Northbrook Canoe Company from which we’ll take a leisurely 2 hour trip down this beautiful river via canoe, tube, or kayak, and then socialize afterward over lunch at Four Dogs Tavern.
The river at the starting point is shallow, and while it will get deeper, it won’t be deeper than your waist. There is one portage around a dam where everyone will help transfer the canoes. While this trip is suitable for children, please do not bring small children under 3.
The fun starts at 9:30 AM. So come on out and bring your family! Never canoed before or don’t have a boating partner? No problem! We’ll match you up and chart a course for smooth sailing. Or you can relax in a tube. (tubers have a differet departure point and will not be grouped with the boat people on the river.) If you want to meet us for lunch, plan on arriving at 1:00 at the tavern. Lunch and drinks are not included in the registration fee.
Register by the 28th!
Meet at 9:30 AM for a 10 AM departure
Or meet at Four Dogs Tavern at 1:00.
