The award-winning STC Philadelphia Metro chapter, in conjunction with the award-winning STC-New York Metro and STC-Houston chapters, are combining forces for the third consecutive year to bring you the 2014 Regional TechComm Competition. Each year, the STC Competition Awards seek out and recognize the best and brightest TechComm achievements and provide an avenue for participants to receive independent feedback about their work.
Why should I participate?
You will receive independent, detailed and professional reviews about your content from at least 3 judges. Assessments by teams of judges are based on 4-10 hours of work and can be used to support continuous improvement for your projects. Winners are recognized for their achievement through certificates, publication and can add STC winners’ badges to their online sites. You can validate your methods and earn visibility.
Who can enter and what can be entered?
Anyone (professional or student) who produces technical communication, training material, or content for the web and other devices can enter. You may enter work as a team, an individual or on behalf of a colleague. STC membership is not a requirement.
Entries in the following categories are judged based on based on purpose, information design, usability, and writing:
- Instructional Materials train users on skills and knowledge using solutions like eLearning, mobile learning, workbooks, wikis, social media, facilitator guides, instructional animations, videos, student guides, tutorials and webinars.
- User Support Materials provide information for the user in performing specific tasks for independent use including performance support, online help, mobile help, job aids, quick start guides, reference documents, user guides and websites.
- Promotional Materials market or promote a product, company, individual, or event that aim to persuade the audience to some action, using integrated figures and text. Examples include websites, brochures, catalogs, fliers, and posters.
- Informational Materials inform the user without a specific call to action. Examples include annual reports, articles, books, error messages, magazines, newsletters, periodicals, posters, research papers and websites.
All entries should arrive by the Deadline: 3:00 PM on October 23, 2014.
