Virtual Access: Details to be sent to attendees who RSVP and send payment
The definition and the makeup of workplace teams has changed significantly due to technology and the ubiquity of the internet. In fact, odds are good that you are part of a group or team with members that are not physically located in a local office. There may even be people you work with that you’ve never seen or met in person. Basically, if you use email, IM, online meetings, or discussion boards, you’re part of a virtual team.
How would you rate your virtual team experience? The dynamics of being part of a team in this new landscape are different and most organizations don’t manage or support virtual teams as effectively as they could. Often the tried-and-true methodologies from the past don’t meet the needs of a more distributed, diverse, and international workforce. There’s a lot of room for improvement. Don’t worry, that’s why we’re here and joining together virtually to share suggestions on making virtual teams work better.
Join us for an honest look at virtual teams and come away with helpful ideas and useful suggestions on how to be a star member of your own virtual group. And don’t be surprised if some of the solutions center around communication.
RSVP
You can RSVP now on Meetup for face-to-face attendance or on our website for virtual access. We will also be sharing this presentation online through Google Meet for remote attendees. Please refer to the Payment Details below for the rates for this meeting. If you have any questions, please contact president@stc-orlando.org.
Partner Program: INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN FOR PERFORMANCE IMPACT
WHEN
October 4th, 2018
8:30AM – 5:00PM
WHERE
Billtrust HQ
1009 Lenox Dr
#101
Lawrence Township, NJ 08648
When people ask why companies need a training department or team, what answer do you give? Can you articulate clearly and convincingly what role a trainer or instructional designer plays in an organization in 2018?
Let’s face it – in the business world, training can seem like a luxury to many. And as we all know, when times get tough, training usually suffers one of the first blows as staff gets cut. So before the next economic downturn happens or your organization suffers a setback, why not invest time in your own career development and learn how to answer that first question with confidence?
If your job duties include words or phrases like “training,” “organizational,” “human resources,” or “performance,” you need to attend this event. Local expert Joe Willmore, fresh off a wave of global engagements with ATD, will guide participants through a one-day seminar on how to analyze and design for employee performance. Whether you’re new in the field or a grizzled veteran (or even if you lack grizzle), you’re sure to learn something surprising. We expect another big crowd for this event, so register today to ensure your seat!
Part one will focus on front-end analysis. With a very hands-on approach, you will learn to to identify and quantify business goals, assess performance, create objectives in measurable terms, and spot and fix performance gaps.
Part two will zoom in specifically on performance gaps and understanding top performers. This more detailed, focus session will give you guided practice in using the tools and techniques experts use to diagnose, remedy, and measure employees’ work on the job. In addition, you will learn that the fastest way to improve performance is to identify exemplars/top performers, and also how to observe, measure, and interact with them so that their success can be translated into a formula that works for others.

Partner Program: Innovative Solutions to Today’s L&D Challenge – A CLO Panel Discussion
As the war for talent rages on, the talent development landscape continues to shift under our feet and L&D professionals are being asked to play a more strategic role in the fight to attract, retain, and grow talent. Market disruptions, generational differences, AI, robotics, AR/VR, changing consumer tastes, low unemployment, the gig economy, and a host of other trends contribute to the chaotic pace of change. It can be difficult to know what works anymore.
That’s why we’re going to ask a panel of innovative L&D leaders what solutions they’re employing to tackle today’s talent development challenges.
- Emma Engel, Chief Learning Officer, Unisys University
- Eric Brand, Senior Director of Training, Endo Pharmaceuticals
- Karen Clay Basile, Chief Learning Officer, Johnson Controls
- Susan Gunn, Exec. Director, People Advisory Services, EY (formerly, SVP, Aramark)
Longtime talent and organizational development consultant Gus Prestera will be the moderator for this panel discussion, which is co-hosted by Philly L&D and Beacon.
What will you get out of it?
This is no academic affair: you will walk away with practical strategies, tactics, technologies, and ideas for dealing with a range talent development challenges, including:
- Given the pace of hiring, how do we best onboard people into new positions?
- How do we optimize individual and team performance?
- How do we promote retention through professional development?
- Given the frequency of organizational changes, how do we build greater change resilience?
- How do we identify and grow superheroes internally and enable their rise through the leadershipranks?
Plus, you’ll have a great time networking with colleagues, and maybe you’ll even bask in the victory of winning a door prize. What else could you want for a Wednesday morning?!
Join us as the leading edge meets today’s realities; bring your questions and your energy; don’t miss out on the opportunity to hear what approaches these innovative L&D leaders are using to drive results for their organizations.
